REPO! (<3) and Repo (:/)

February 26th, 2010  |  Published in art

So, I’ve really loved REPO! The Genetic Opera and even had the amazing fortune of attending the premiere and meeting some of the incredible people behind it. Seeing this idea come to life against much adversity has had a huge impact on my own choice to wholeheartedly pursue my creative passion. :)

With Repo Men coming out, there’s some interesting discussion going on- I just want to say that I love the classy viewpoints Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich have been sharing: Read the rest of this entry »

Forgive the occasional wild and feral look in my CRAZY CRAZY eyes . . . Too much coffee and too little nutrition leading up to this: (Still, it was a beautiful day.:))

02 Self-Portraits: 01.24.10-2.13.10

February 16th, 2010  |  Published in Uncategorized, art, self-portraits

Oh, still rusty!

I guess I’ll just soften my goal to having little groups of self-portraits, hopefully twice a month, which are either better than the last group or on par . . . According to my subjective evaluations, ha.

Right now it’s a little extra challenging as I’ve been so busy with Edgewater . . . But I’m always becoming better and better. :)

Self-portraits: 01.24.10-2.13.10

Oh well. Always growing. :)

Someone asked me . . .

February 3rd, 2010  |  Published in art, general, spirituality

How my art has become a big thing in my life.

My response:

I’ve always loved drawing and painting since I was little and it was very natural of me to pursue it in school. After letting go of my “secure” job, I thought I’d dive fully into art, but that actually didn’t happen. A source of resistance in me has been this idea that I *have* to work HARD at art DAILY to be an artist. But all that pressure hadn’t really been working out . . . Growth came with a better and better understanding of the creative power of the universe; I’ve ended up seeing art in everything. So I’m coming more and more to see life as this great work in progress which shows a flow of creativity, regardless of whether I spend 10 hours today painting or put that off in favor of watching porn and eating ice cream.

Of course, once I let go of that pressure it’s easier and easier TO regularly put 10+ hours into art. Oh, Universe. <3

01 Self-Portraits: 01.17-23.10

Goals:

1. Work on a drawn/sketched/painted self-portrait each day (and finish it *ideally*- but I’m going to go ahead ‘n start out lazy ‘n not hold myself to anything for now . . .)
2. Take a self-portrait photo once a month (inspired by/as part of a whitechapel thread)

~ * ~

1. The images for last week . . . Ouch. Pretty rusty. Just focused on some sketching, really:

Self-portraits: 01.17-23.10

I’ll let higher quality images stand alone if they happen. ;)

I had a professor who recommended this daily-self-portrait goal (a few years ago, while I was still at Uni). With the right materials and a good system, it’s pretty easy to bang out some great stuff within just fifteen minutes. I’ve created some powerful self-portraits before in under five . . . Just gotta remember how to let it flow . . .

For now, most of my focus is already going to Edgewater. :)

2. The photo for this month:

(Taken right before doing the 01/22/10 sketch. Heh, chin’s looking a bit pudgy. I’ve been pretty broke and living off noodles, so my body hasn’t been thriving as much as usual, but I’m getting that all sorted out. :) )

Free Stuff!

January 23rd, 2010  |  Published in art, spirituality, website

Whew!

I’ve had this intense desire for awhile to put some free shit out there into the world. Well, by my beliefs, I think I’ll get stuff back in some way or another- but it’s really just fun to share and be interactive. :)

Anyway, I’ve had a few ideas for awhile, but I’m only finally now starting to implement them . . .

First off, I’m offering free downloads of my fanart (since I can’t sell prints anyway, y’know?). That’s being done here: http://littlezas.net/gallery2/v/cogdis/
. . . Still got quite a bit to upload, heh.

I’ve also got these Horror Valentine’s cards I did last year:

Other things I’ve been planning include creating an art tutorials blog (I own art-tutorials.com). And maybe offering some feng shui inspired images for free (as well as general healing-oriented works vaguely in the tradition of the drypaintings of my (Navajo) tribe.

Well, for now I’m just proud I’ve taken those first steps. :)

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

January 9th, 2010  |  Published in art, edgewater, general, website

I’m on fire! So excited about the upcoming amazement of Edgewater, wow. I can’t believe how INCREDIBLE 2010 has been (even less than 10 days into it!)

Well, early early on January 8th, I put littlezas.net up again, kinda. It’s still sort of bare bones (yay bones!)- This blog is on the older temporary theme, and I’m hoping to get the main three sections of the site here matching this weekend. I expect I’ll be tweaking the details up until I decide to switch it all again, hee hee.

I just wanted to post so that I get in the habit of showing this blog and my site some love . . . Here’s an alphabetized list of great clips that are currently sustaining me:

Art of Silent Hill - Fukuro
Bjork - All Is Full of Love
David Bowie - Fame (Live by Request)
David Bowie - Live By Request Moby Phonecall
David Bowie - Stay feat. Earl Slick (Bowie at the Beeb)
Obama Does Thriller
Pomplamoose - Makin’ Out by Mark Owen (Cover)
Pomplamoose - Mister Sandman by the Chordettes (Cover)
Wolfsheim - I Don’t Love You Anymore

And, honestly, a crush on an anonymous German BDSM pornstar who always wears a mask . . . –Yes, I’ve been watching hardcore bondage sex on film for aesthetic inspiration.

Green Light for Edgewater. :)

So, the funding for the comic collaboration between Ryan Bradford and I was hit within just a few hours of being recommended via twitter by just the right person.

My heart is intensely full right now. Read the rest of this entry »

Sex, Violence, and ROBOTS!: Edgewater

This poster was created by yours truly. It’s to advertise a potential project between Ryan Bradford and myself. We previously collaborated to create Christmas Follies of the Half-Jewish Lobster. I expect this to be even awesomer!

You can learn more about the project here: EDGEWATER: A dark and sexy comic book by Ryan and Zandria
There’s also a post detailing the progression of the poster here: Making of: Edgewater Poster

Consider pledging the help the project happen! You can simply donate a dollar and still gain a prize. :)
